This policy applies to all information collected or submitted on the Connections Copilot website.

Information we collect and how we use it

The game data such as the positions of tiles or colors is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted over the internet. If you clear the data by using the functionality inside the website or in your browser, the data is deleted immediately.

When you visit the Connections Copilot website, the service provider which hosts the website, Cloudflare, serves the site to the user's browser and only collects the number of requests processed. It no longer collects RUM (real user monitoring) analytics as of December 21, 2025 as it may violate privacy laws in some countries.

The game data is loaded from the NYT website service endpoint (thank you NYT!) for the specific day game data, and is proxied through a Cloudflare worker to add CORS headers to allow the browser to retrieve the data. Only counting that the request was made is collected by Cloudflare.

There is no email address captured unless you email us directly, which is used only to reply to your inquiry.

Performance Monitoring

Connections Copilot uses Grafana Frontend Observability and the Grafana Faro library to monitor the performance of the website and count the number of daily active users, monthly active users, and usage of features in the app.

How: This service collects information about the performance of the website, such as how long it takes the browser to render the page, and if there are any errors while the website is loading, or when the user is interacting with it. Additionally, anonymous usage events are also sent to help determine aggregate feature usage across the userbase, such as when an archive game is selected.

User counting: In order to count daily and montlhly active users without keeping a unique user ID, the client-side application simply determines if it's the first time the application has been loaded during the current day (and same thing for the current month), and if it hasn't, it emits an anonymous log line to the server indicating this event happened. To count the daily and monthly users entirely anonymously, counting the log lines for each day and month yield a total count.

Sessions: There is no personally identifyable information logged to the server. A random Faro session ID is generated at the start of a browser session and transmitted with events which are sent to the server. The session times out after 15 minutes of inactivity, after 4 maximum hours of activity, or if the user closes the tab or browser. It is used by Faro and Grafana Frontend Observability to glue together activity and errors which occur together so they are understandable for identifying system issues. The Faro session ID does not identify the user in any way, and is not used by any other site or service. The use of persistent Faro session IDs which were remembered across browser sessions was removed on December 21, 2025.

Providers

We use the following 3rd party providers:

Information usage

We use the anonymized information we collect to operate and improve our website.

We do not share personal information with outside parties which is especially easy since we don't have any. We may share anonymous, aggregate statistics with outside parties, such as how many page loads the website has on a daily basis.

We may disclose any information we have collected in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.

Accessing, changing, or deleting information

Since Connections Copilot doesn't store your game data outside of your device, there is no way for us to delete it for you. You would need to use the "Reset all data" functionality from the settings screen, or by clearing the locally stored data for the connections-copilot.com domain from your browser's settings page.

Raw diagnostic and performance data is purged after 30 days. Metrics derived from the raw data are saved for 13 months. The aggregate request data stored by Cloudflare discussed above is retained for as long as Cloudflare will allow.

International Transfers of Information

Information may be processed, stored, and used outside of the country in which you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may be applicable to your data depending on where it is processed, stored, or used.
